The BMW X1 is powered by two engines: a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 187bhp and 400Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a 2.0-litre petrol engine that makes 189bhp and 280Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
