Opening Of Lexus RX 450h
Now, Lexus is a company that is preoccupied with technology, particularly hybrids, and it unveiled its first green vehicle, the RX crossover, in 2005. The RX crossover was first introduced in 1998 and has since become one of the most popular luxury SUVs on the market. It’s no secret that India adores SUVs, and a vehicle like the RX, with its distinct appearance, ample technology, and exclusive badge, is guaranteed to tick all the boxes. We take it for a trip around beautiful Ooty to explore all it has to offer.

Exterior Appearance Of Lexus RX 450h
The Lexus RX 450h attracts a lot of attention. While many people were enamoured with its appearance, we took a while to get our heads around those lines. The design is distinctive, and it appears as if the designer was given a large lump of metal and told to carve the RX out of it.
The sliced headlamps and spindle grille are family features, yet they look terrific on the Lexus RX 450h. The floating roof, which has been well-integrated, is another aspect that adds to the unique appearance. The only blemish on the ointment are the basic 7-spoke alloy wheels, which look out of place on a car as beautiful as the RX.
Interior Appearance Of Lexus RX 450h
In India, the Lexus RX 450h will be offered in two trim levels: Luxury and F Sport, of which we had the opportunity to test drive the latter. Mechanically, both automobiles are identical, however the F Sport is equipped with a sportier suspension. When you enter, you’ll be met by a futuristic cabin. The interiors of the F Sport were black and red, and they looked and felt fantastic. On the interior, there are plenty of folds, cuts, and lines, just like on the outside. The seats in the F Sport model have additional bolstering to keep you in place while also providing excellent all-around support.
The dash is a work of art, and the wood and brushed aluminium combo feels amazing. In fact, it appears to be so good that you must touch and feel it. While it does not feel as well-made as some of its competitors, the fit and quality are impeccable. The 12.3-inch screen lacks touch but looks excellent and is controlled by a joystick that is a little fiddly at first but gets easier with practise.
The F Sport also comes with a unique set of instruments, including a huge analogue tachometer and a digital speedometer, as well as an 8-inch TFT screen that displays a G sensor with steering angle, as well as accelerator and brake hydraulic pressure bars. That’s a lot of glitz and glam.
The F Sport, like the others, comes with a great 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio system that makes the car feel like it’s being played by a live band. The boot on the Lexus RX 450h is likewise opened in a unique method. The Lexus symbol has a sensor, and all you have to do is wave your hands over it, and the boot opens. It’s very cool, and in addition to being practical, it’s also a terrific show-off feature.
Driven By Results
The Lexus RX 450h is driven by a 3.5-liter V6 hybrid engine that produces 259 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 335 Nm at 4600 rpm. The RX has a combined output of 308bhp thanks to the 650V electric motor. When you push the EV button and use the electric motor on the road, the RX accelerates silently. My coworker Ameya and I were literally whispering inside the car since it was so quiet. Even the transition from electric to gasoline is very seamless, and the gasoline engine itself is very refined.
On the move, the RX is pretty quick. Paddle shifters are also included on the F Sport, which are paired to an E-CVT transmission. You also have 5 modes to choose from, depending on how you want to drive the car. The RX modifies the steering, suspension, and throttle response depending on the mode.
The rubber band effect of the CVT was only noticeable when we slammed the throttle with the revs climbing faster than the actual speed, but otherwise it seemed very much like a torque converter in everyday driving.
The RX feels most intense in Sport S+ mode, which is due to the F Sport’s extra sound generator, which increases the sound pressure level in the engine air intake for a livelier engine note. While we appreciated rushing around the tight corners, the Sport S+ ride is a tad unnerving and noisy. In Eco/Normal mode, however, the suspension feels fairly supple, and the adjustable dampers, together with the 65 profile tyres, provide a very comfortable ride.
Electric four-wheel drive, which uses a rear motor that runs separately from the front motor and distributes power optimally, is also available to deal with the occasional challenging conditions. However, we will have to wait and see how effective it is.
For Rs. 1.09 crore, you get one of the best-looking SUVs on the market, snazzy interiors, an incredibly polished hybrid powertrain, a live band of a music system, 10 airbags, and more. Because it is a CBU, the Lexus RX 450h competes against larger and quicker vehicles such as the Porsche Macan and the Mercedes-Benz GLE coupe.
While the Lexus RX 450h isn’t quite as capable as its German competitors, it does have the advantage of being both distinctive and exclusive. For the tech-obsessed, hybrid technology could be another significant lure. While the Lexus RX 450h is inferior to the competition when compared directly, it does have the advantage of being a stand-alone niche product. If you’re a tree lover who wants to stand out and isn’t on a budget, this is the shirt for you.
